Pommelo

Pommelo has been called by various botanical names. Roxburg (1832) and Lushington (1910) referred to pommelo as C. decumana where- as Chatterjee (1948) indicates that it is more proper to refer it as C. maxima (Burm).

Cameron mentioned two hybrid types. One is a hybrid pommelo while the other is a hybrid between pommelo and mandarin. Chandler-an early ripening hybrid pommelo derived from a low acid parent, a cross between pommelo 2240 x pommelo 2241. It combines several of the desirable characteristics of the parent.

At North Eastern Hilly region of India, Assam lemon (C. limon), Satkara (C. macroptera) and Pommelo (C. grandis) and Kharna Khatta are found to be highly tolerant to the citrus leaf miner Phyllocnistis citrella Stainton.
