Risk prevention can be subdivided into two major parts: preoccurrence activities and postoccurrence activities. Preoccurrence activities include all tasks and functions associated with preventing incidents that might give rise to losses. Postoccurrence activities are those tasks and functions that can be carried out after the incident to help mitigate the potential or real loss.
