Preplate

This channel was proposed to increase the intracellular concentration of Ca 2+ through the participation of the NCX exchanger, thus triggering Ca 2+ -dependent signaling in the preplate neurons, leading to glutamate secretion and the development of the neocortex before functional synapses are formed (Platel et al., 2005 ).
