Protoecumenical

In the protoecumenical world of the late 19th century, it seems to me, American protestants in particular were in general agreement concerning the tasks of church work.

This supremely decadent rite, apparently intended as a protoecumenical bonding ceremony, only succeeded in creating a scandal for its esotericism, anti-Semitic overtones, and its utter pointlessness.
