Today's options are much more comfortable to wear and touch. Cloth diaper covers can be polyurethane laminate (PUL) over cotton or polyester, nylon, wool or fleece.

PUL is waterproof and yet can withstand the heat of the dryer, wool is breathable yet fairly waterproof and antimicrobial, hemp and bamboo are absorbent and have some antimicrobial properties.

PUL is a slippery material and is not very easy to sew. Using a dual feed will simplify the sewing process. You can also use a Teflon presser foot, which reduces the slippery aspect. Alternatively, place a sheet of tracing paper between the PUL and the presser foot.
