Have rules of conduct, or symbols of respect and honor, or give users the power to choose champions—like Twitter manners, Reddit Gold or Reddiquette, Kickstarter campaigns, or American Idol.

Because Redditors prize and encourage thoughtful contributions, at least according to Reddiquette, bots or novelty accounts that interact only superficially are likely to be banned or downvoted.

Another specificity of communicative interaction is that Reddit has two types of inner rules — local rules of subreddits and the so-called Reddiquette, general rules of the platform.

Reddit’s citizen moderators maintain so-called ‘Reddiquette’, and themselves police the platform and the norms that govern particular subreddits (Massanari 2017).
