Teen girls tell me that they have public “rinsta” or real Instagram accounts for all followers and then private “finsta” Instagram accounts for their "closest" friends.

Her “rinsta” is based on her full name and it is the picture of a perfect middle schooler.

There were the Finstas and the Rinstas—the fake and the real, the accounts that your parents could see, where every kid posted things about school and new haircuts and cute dogs on the street, and the accounts where you could see more bare skin and some authentic teen misery.
