Schoolgirly

Mrs. Wilbur's paper was earnest, enthusiastic, a trifle schoolgirly in its sounding periods. It caused much more discussion than poor Flaubert.

It was good writing; astringent, economical. I now saw that Dawn O'Hara was sentimental and schoolgirly. This second piece of writing had a completely different attack. It was as though two distinct people had written these two pieces of fiction.

"I finished early at college so I thought I'd see if I could spot you amongst all your little schoolgirly chums. So come on. Let's go for a walk or something."
