Septicæmias

It has frequently been shown, especially in connection with pneumococcus infections (which, in the general absence of phagocytosis that characterizes them, much resemble the hæmorrhagic septicæmias), that, when the organisms possess a moderate or slight virulence, a high degree of opsonic immunity for a the homolgous* culture could be obtained.†
