For instance, in February 2007 the Los Angeles Times ran an article that described the appearance of a new variety of coffee shop in the suburbs of Seattle, the “sexpresso” bar. Noting that “coffee, the famed Seattle obsession,” is now being combined “with sex, the fabled human obsession,” the paper discussed the success of establishments like the “Natte Latte and Bikini Espresso,” whose full-figured barristas^([sic]) serve customers while wearing baby doll nighties, halter tops, or negligees.
