Shovuos

Next Sunday is termed, according to the Jewish law, the “Feast of Weeks.” It is in commemoration of the anniversary of the giving of the law on Mount Sinia,^([sic]) and is known in Hebrew as Shovuos Sunday.

On the second evening of Shovuos, they gather to read the Psalms, for it is believed that King David, who is said to have written some of them, died on the second day of Shovuos.

Tomorrow, 9 a.m., commence festival of Shovuos at 9:05 p.m. Sunday, first day of Shovuos, service at 9 a.m., light festival candle at 9 p.m. Monday, second day of Shovuous, 9 a.m.

Pesach began as an observance of the coming of spring. Like the holiday of Shovuos, it is a season of the grain harvest.
