Smartmodem

Finally, some modems, and most smartmodems, come equipped with a row of status lights on the front of the modem, which make it easy to see what it is doing.

In the previous section, we discussed the two basic types of modems, smartmodems and acoustic coupled modems. Remember that smartmodems require they be plugged directly into the phone line.

The M2DM system comprised a Web access^([sic]), a CTI service based on an Interactive Voice response system and a smartmodem located at home. The Web pages were optimized for different access modalities, including mobile devices.
