Sponsorially

This eminent man, afterwards Lord Oriel, was the near relative of the subject of our present memoir; he also attended for him sponsorially at the baptismal font, and invoked the combined powers of genius, learning, and eloquence, to take charge of his youthful ward and namesake, John Leslie Foster the younger.
