Even the Navy has jumped back into the Osprey game with the decision to use a variant of the V-22 as a replacement for the aging C-2 Greyhound, a fixed-wing cargo plane used to ferry material and personnel on and off Navy supercarriers at sea. And other nations are now interested in procuring the V-22.

Sean J. Stackley, the Navy’s assistant secretary for acquisitions, gave the timetable for the 100,000-ton, 1,100-foot-long supercarrier in testimony prepared for the Senate Armed Services Committee on Wednesday.

Displacing around 80,000 metric tons of water, according to the China Daily report, the Fujian is 50% larger than China’s two current in-service carriers and puts the PLA Navy in the league of supercarriers, like the 100,000-ton US Nimitz-class ships.
