Technofossil

Metros are part of the evolving body-fossil, technofossil, trace fossil, and chemical record of the genus Homo that extends back some 2.8 million years in Africa (Villmoare et al., 2015), and is underpinned by a technofossil record of stone tools that is shared with hominins other than Homo (Harmand et al., 2015).
