Tibetanisation

Why then has Chou En-lai suddenly shown this possessive interest in three remote Kachin villages? Some Burmese writers suggest that this is the first step towards the "Tibetanisation of Burma."

In the seventh and eighth centuries, a degree of Tibetanisation took place in Ladakh. This is shown by the fact that Chinese chronicles of those years refer to the areas east of Baltistan as Tibet; and Ladakh is what exists "east of Baltistan".

When the TCV Schools were established in the early sixties, with their 'Tibetanisation' of the primary students, most of whom at the time came straight from Tibet, the sense of religion and culture once came through the monasteries.
