Translatologist

To the translatologist, however, the concept of pragmatics is of utmost importance because it is "texts-in-function" (Schmidt 1973) which are translated—verbal expressions utilized in communication acts.

This paper traces in short the history of translation in India from ancient times to modern times and leads into different models adopted by translatologists in India, with a special reference to Hindi.
