Trisilver

This, however, reacts with methyl iodide just as the trisilver salt does. When dry trisilver cochinelate is heated with excess of methyl iodide at 100°, a mixture of the methyl ethers of trimethyl and dimethyl hydrogen cochinelate, OMe⋅C₆HMe(CO₂Me)₃ and OMe⋅C₆HMe(CO₂H)(CO₂Me)₂, is obtained; these can be separated by means of aqueous sodium carbonate.
