Having won the UEFA Champions League title in May – the premier club competition in European soccer – PSG now has the chance to crown an excellent 12 months by becoming world champion.

England and Capello can now make plans for Euro 2012, but they will be without Rooney for at least the opening group match and perhaps more should Uefa decide to increase his suspension.

The obvious joy of England's players and supporters after that dramatic finale was another indicator that the Uefa Nations League, mocked and maligned at its inception, is capturing the public's imagination.
