We are thus brought to the point that vaccinists argue that clinicians must not quarrel with them for adopting the same criterion of cure, and the answer to the vaccinist is that he is confusing the issue,

The truth was , I had then never read Dr. Jenner's publications, nor, indeed, those of any other vaccinist or anti-vaccinist , being perfectly satisfied with having ascertained, that the vaccine process enabled the human body to resist the small-pox, whether tested by exposure to the epidemic disease, or by inoculation, and which, from my experience in inoculation with small-pox virus, I considerd to be quite satisfactory, until the proof occurred which occasioned an investigation, which terminated in the opintion I have frequently given to the public.

Instead of its being true that the anti-vaccinationists "alone have been examined so far," the fact is that of the scores of witnesses examined a large proportion are vaccinist.
