Vitellointestinal

Persistence of the vitellointestinal duct as a whole or part of it leads to a wide variety of anomalies–Meckel's diverticulum is the commonest lesion and a PVID is the rarest.

A successful repair of patent vitellointestinal duct and prolapse of the small bowel has been presented. Only with a surgical approach to cutaneous duct remnants can a physician be certain to exclude a patent vitellointestinal duct, Meckel's diverticulum, or potential obstructing band.
