Steve Hofmeyr is full of praise for Brexit, and has suggested Capetonians vote for their own Wexit - the exit of the Western Cape from South Africa.

But its supporters are adamant no prudish IEC officials can stop them from throwing their weight behind other political formations that share their values of a "Wexit" — Western Cape exit from South Africa.

It's impressive that Jay Hill, the former Reform and Tory MP and former cabinet member, was at this weekend's "Wexit" (Western exit) conference in Calgary.

The Alberta government has issued pointed criticism at a Toronto tech company that chose Halifax over Calgary over converns about provincial tax policy and Wexit.

The poll found that 74 per cent of Albertans had heard of the "Wexit" movement and that number rose to 86 per cent when the term was explained to the respondent.
