Zero-sum

A zero-sum game is a game in which any player's winnings are balanced by the other players' losses.

I think somewhere along the line society failed in uplifting minorities without putting down other people. It seems it’s been portrayed as a zero-sum game where “punching up” is the only accepted way to play. To people on an individual level, I have no doubt it breeds an enormous amount of bitterness.

Dalio is right, but somewhat self-serving. If hedge-fund managers are playing a zero-sum game, what is their social utility? […] Can it really be in America’s interest to have so much of its young talent playing a zero-sum game?
