Boy love was a common and accepted practice throughout much of Roman history, especially amongst the aristocracy. However, it was still "not done" to talk about boyloving in public in Rome, even though many Emperors (and, earlier, Kings) indulged in more than their share of it - including Gaius Marius, who founded some of the greatest reforms in the Roman Empire.
