So far, I have made two arguments. One is that you can’t justify an opposition to proprietary information solely on an ethical imperative to share, unless you are willing to extend that ethical imperative to all resources and thus embrace true communism. Second, an appeal to the non–rival nature of digital information can’t get you off the slippery slope to info–communism if your case is built entirely around a deontological appeal to the value of sharing and cooperation.
