There have been, as I am sure you must be aware of, a few games released already that feature a mixture of high technology and magic. Probably the most successful one is FASA's Shadowrun, although my favorite setting in that "genre" is one which is featured in GURPS Time Travel Adventures. (It is an alternative present, in which magic was released by the first nuclear bomb test in 1945. Magic, tech, and magitech are used both separately and together. In that world, there are zones of varying magical strength; in those with strong magic, old-style tech is becoming less common, as -- for instance -- fairly large construction projects can be handled by a single or a few mages specializing in earth-elemental magic....)

Even further, I believe that neutronium is supposed to be a superfluid...although maybe some type of field effect might be able to lock it into some sort of matrix. Definitely some sort of magitech solution would be required.

So while, for instance, I love the Eberron setting which was built from the ground up to suit Third Edition D&D, that's only a minor part of why I like it; the majority of the reason for my affection is that it takes a very modern approach to fantasy - I don't mean just the magitech aspects, but also the myriad of ways in which it differs from your bog-standard pseudo-medieval fantasy world while still having all the kings, knights, dragons, and elves you could want.
