We will review the human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), by now one of relatively better studied herpesviruses, which spectrum of activities may be considered as a prototype for oncomodulation, and compare its pro-oncogenic properties with those of human herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 (HSV) and herpes lymphotropic virus (HHV-6).
