The Trendall locality consists of four members, from base to top: (I) chert pebble to boulder conglomerates and quartz-rich sandstones; (II) laminated and stromatolitic carbonates with common pseudomorphed evaporitic crystal splays; (III) layered black and white cherts with small, well-laminated, iron-rich domical stromatolites; and (IV) an unconformably overlying sequence of polymict conglomerates, sandstones, and volcanic ash.
