About 4. m. S.W. of Aix., near the great railway viaduct over the Geul, is an old castle on a height, called Emmaburg, from the daughter of Charlemagne, who ran off with his secretary Eginhard. Near it are the calamine-mines and zinc-works of the Vieille Montagne Company.
