Editorial Policy

How we keep WordToolSet useful, sourced, and correctable.

What We Publish

WordToolSet combines structured lexical data with original usage guidance for writers, students, editors, and word-game players. Generated word pages are treated as reference pages only when they have enough definitions, relationships, examples, or editorial notes to be useful on their own.

Pages that do not meet our quality threshold remain available for users but are excluded from search indexing until they have stronger source coverage.

Data Review Standards

  • Definitions and examples are normalized from open linguistic datasets, then deduplicated and grouped by part of speech.
  • Synonym ranking favors terms that appear across multiple sources or repeated source mentions.
  • Pronunciation, rhyme, and syllable data are cross-checked against phonetic source tables where available.
  • Thin or malformed entries are marked as non-indexable so they are not presented as primary search inventory.

Editorial Writing

Guides, topic clusters, writing packs, and usage notes are written to answer practical language questions: which word fits, what tone it carries, what mistake to avoid, and how to use it in a real sentence. We prefer concise guidance over filler text.

Editorial pages are reviewed for clarity, source consistency, and usefulness before they are linked from major site navigation or submitted in the sitemap.

AI-Assisted Content

Some usage notes and writing tips are drafted with AI assistance. Those notes are grounded in the word's definitions, relationships, examples, and part-of-speech data. AI-assisted content is not used to invent etymologies, citations, pronunciations, or source facts.

When an entry lacks enough source data, we exclude it from indexing rather than padding the page with unsupported generated prose.

Corrections

Language data is imperfect, especially when multiple open datasets disagree. If you find a wrong definition, missing sense, questionable synonym, broken audio file, or outdated usage note, send the word and issue to contact@wordtoolset.com.

Corrections are checked against source data and may be fixed directly, excluded from indexing, or queued for the next database refresh.
