From Latin pharmacopola + -ist, from Ancient Greek φαρμακοπώλης (pharmakopṓlēs), from φάρμακον (phármakon, “drug, charm, enchantment”) + -πώλης (-pṓlēs, “-seller, -monger”). Cf. papyropolist. Doublet of pharmacopole.
