Etymology

In use by 1985. Uncertain origin. Possibly a marketing name; possibly from dialectal Italian pratarolo (“meadow mushroom”), ultimately from Latin pratum (“meadow”). It has also said to be named after Portobello Road in London, which originally led to the Porto Bello House.
