Anemones

Aggregating anemones use their tentacles to sting and paralyze prey.

The subtidal reefs host a myriad of sponges, anemones and corals, whose presence converts the dark rock to fields of vibrant color.

When the creatures below the ice die, they sink to the bottom of the ocean and provide nutrients for sponges, sea anemones, and other bottom dwelling creatures.

They also found hundreds of white-tentacled anemones, but they could not collect specimens.

Among the noted works on display, spanning from the late nineteenth to early 20th centuries, are Henri Matisse's "Purple Robe and Anemones" and Camille Pissarro's "The Highway."

Anemones are very pretty, strange, and interesting animals.
