Barbarity

Let me therefore enter upon this noble cause with a chearfulness, grounded upon this assurance, that my adversary's cause is maintain'd by nothing but fraud, fallacy, ignorance and barbarity; whereas mine has light, truth, reason, the practice and the learning of the best ages of the world, of its side.

War is barbarity, insane fratricide, absurd and disastrous destruction, senseless and inhumane conflict – a violation of blessed and fortunate peace.

As regards barbarities committed by the Japanese army since our war of resistance, the fall of Nanking in December 1937 is a case in point. Over 200,000 civilians were massacred within one week.
