Cliche

The word "cliche" comes from French.

It's a cliche, but it's true.

With her green eye shadow and rabbit fur coat, Mary was cliche.

The cream exploded into a cliche in the author's coffee mug.

That's incredibly cliche.

This sounds a little cliche.

It's a hackneyed, tired word, almost on the level of a cliche, and if I had a student in my class who wrote that in a sentence, I would say no, you have to do better than that.

The snowcloneification was surely not far behind, since so many people would already have been familiar enough with this cliche of philosophy.
