Doric

The house features an atrium with a rectangular peristyle and a covered corridor, the roof of which is supported by columns with Doric capitals.

Besides Korinthian, Spartan, and other Doric enemies in the Peloponnesos, Boiotians to the north, Megarians on the west, were threatening Athens.

It is certainly my personal favourite, for it was by way of Hardwick’s great Doric arch that I first sampled the roar and clatter of London streets, the trip being a boyhood reward for achieving (unexpected) success in a school examination!
