Exteroceptive

Many amputees report that they are able to perform voluntary movements of their phantom, which generally increase the vividness of the sensations; immobility and involuntary movements are also common. Broadly, phantom sensations can be categorized into kinetic, kinesthetic, and exteroceptive components. Kinetic sensations include voluntary or involuntary perceptions of movement, kinesthetic sensations include the position and shape of the missing body part, while exteroceptive perceptions include sensory aspects such as touch, temperature, and vibration. The phantom limb typically mimics the sensory experience of the missing limb with amputees even reporting feeling that the limb is wet, sweaty, or tickly.
