Drywall is made from gypsum.

A century ago, gypsum quarries sat here.

Barges transported the gypsum to factories, where it was transformed into material for construction and medical plasters.

Besides being abundant, gypsum is easily refined into a powder for plaster or formed into sheets of wallboard.
