Because gay people are finding more affirmation in our culture for their sexuality, those who are heterosexually married are tending to question their need to stay in that kind of relationship or their need to repress their homosexual activity.

Interrupting this perfect storm requires a clear understanding of its origins, and we still cannot fully explain why heterosexually transmitted H.I.V. exploded in Africa while remaining confined to very specific communities in the West.
