A TV commercial blared in the background, repeating the brand's catchphrase: "This is not your father's Oldsmobile — this is the new generation of Olds!"

She was a family friend. I remember riding in her car as a child. It was an Oldsmobile and seemed a bit plush and expensive compared with our car.

He has a classic Oldsmobile in his garage. It's one of those ones with a huge V-8.
