Pummelo

Some of the Oriental pummelo varieties, whether from Thailand, China, or Malaysia, when grown at the Orlando, Fla., Station are sweeter than grapefruit, and the flavor is distinctive and pleasing to most persons.

Fruit juice of the pummelo was found to have substantial furanocoumarin content and to cause inhibition of CYP3A4-mediated testosterone 6ẞ-hydroxylation by human liver microsomes (167).

In addition to pummelo varieties, there are various pummelo hybrids that have been produced with varying but limited commercial success.
