Sapling

It's a very beautiful sapling.

Thither I drew, and strove with eager hold / a green-leaved sapling from the soil to tear, / to shade with boughs the altars, when behold / a portent, weird to see and wondrous to unfold!

Once more / a limber sapling from the soil I tore; / once more, persisting, I resolved in mind / with inmost search the causes to explore / and probe the mystery that lurked behind; / dark drops of blood once more come trickling from the rind.

A shoot grows from a seed. A shoot transforms to a sapling, a sapling to a tree. The root sustains the tree.

Then, on some day not remembered, Necile sprang into being; radiant, lovely, straight and slim as the sapling she was created to guard.

The sapling became a tree.

The small sapling became a big tree.

Israeli scientists have germinated a sapling from a date palm seed that is nearly 2,000 years old. Dr. Sarah Sallon, who heads the project, told VOA that it is the oldest seed ever brought back to life.
