Strata

In Colombia, the population is classified into social strata ranging from one to six, one being the poorest and six being the richest.

The Arabic word "siraat", the English word "street" and the German word "Straße" are all Latin loanwords borrowed from the Roman word "strata".

There are three principal tests by which we determine the age of a given set of strata; first, superposition; secondly, mineral character; and, thirdly, organic remains.
