But how long is a world or cycle of nature? And how many courses or cycles of nature are there in a thingy? The lesser sum mentioned, the number one with sixty-four ciphers following it, would amount to ten vigintillions, while the greater sum would amount to one hundred quinquequadragintillions.

Six cents, invested at 5½ per cent. and the interest compounded semi-annually for the 2,500 years that have passed since the little Utican’s time, would amount to so much money that there is no intelligible idea of it. If you write down $36 and add fifty-nine ciphers you will have on paper the answer, but it will be an answer in numbers only. To say that this sum is expressed in this country as 36 undevigintillion dollars, and in England as 36 nonillion dollars, is likewise baffling.

The mathematician says that if one will write $36 and add 59 ciphers to it he will have the approximate answer. If this stupendous sum were turned into gold the pile of yellow metal would weigh a trillion times as much as the earth if the earth were of gold.
